Common questions

Where is my save file?

On your own device, in local storage — it is never uploaded to us. The game saves by itself after every turn, so there is no save button. Deleting the app, clearing site data, or using a private browsing window erases the save permanently, and we have no copy to restore.

My progress disappeared.

The usual cause is cleared browser data or a switch between the app and the browser — those are two separate storage areas. Progress does not transfer between devices.

Can I start over?

Yes. Open the menu and choose New Game. It wipes the current run, including your origin, holdings and relationships, and asks you to pick a starting life again.

Are the prices real?

Yes. Every stock in the game uses actual monthly closing prices for that real ticker, from 1999 to 2026, and the in-game newspaper prints headlines from the month they happened. Company names and tickers are used descriptively to reconstruct market history.

Is this real money? Can I win or lose anything?

No. There are no in-app purchases, no deposits, no withdrawals and no prizes. All cash, holdings, bets and debts are fictional and exist only inside your save file. Nothing in the game is investment advice.

An ad did not load, or the reward did not arrive.

Rewarded videos are optional and depend on ad availability in your region, which varies through the day. If a video finishes but the reward does not appear, close and reopen the game — the reward is granted when the video reports completion. Ads never affect the outcome of a trade.

How do I turn notifications off?

iOS: Settings → Notifications → Shoulda Bought. Android: Settings → Apps → Shoulda Bought → Notifications. That stops them immediately. If you also want the stored push token deleted, email us and we will remove it.

How do I change my ad or privacy choices?

In the EEA, UK and Switzerland the consent options are in the in-game menu. On iOS you can change tracking permission in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. On Android, reset or delete the advertising ID in Settings → Privacy → Ads.

The day-trading screen does not respond.

It is a press-and-hold control: hold to open a long position, release to close it, and add a second finger to double the position. If nothing happens, the round has not started yet — the three-second countdown has to finish first.

I found a bug, or something is wrong with the data.

Please tell us. Include your device, whether you were in the app or a browser, and what you were doing. There is also a Feedback item in the in-game menu that sends the report with your turn number attached, which makes it much faster to reproduce.

Requesting data deletion

We hold no account and no personal profile. The only thing we may store is an anonymous push notification token, and only if you allowed notifications. Email support@seizemode.com to have it deleted; we act within 30 days. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
